Market Walkabout
Errands to run and still trying to get through the freelance avalanche, so a quick walk today; or at least, expedient. Even though I can’t wander as much as I’d like to, I decide to take different streets than I usually might to my destination, and look more closely at things I usually pass quickly.

Echo of shows past…

If only you knew what was going on inside this imposing, stately edifice at this very moment…

SoMa West Skate Park… Sometimes the urban planners get it right. Way to take a weird, loud, awkward space under a freeway and turn it into something useful—and super rad and really well-done at that.

Hahaha… Rules, pffft….

The pencil-throwing FLAX man is wearing a bandana and a fake beard today because…. why not!

This antique shop on Market Street makes me wish I had a set to dress or a large home to decorate…

Vintage Neon sightings…

Adding living green things to urban spaces is always a welcome touch…

6th & Market is a bit of a rough block, so I admire this Living Wall and appreciate it’s presence near the corner each time I pass under it. It seems a little out of place for the area, so I always wonder how it happened to be installed there—today, I noticed this placard for the first time…

Bright sunny day, bustling Market Street…

After running an errand in a crowded, noisy, over-stimulating building, I decided to make a tiny detour on a side-mission to bring my energy back to center. The whole Yerba Buena complex is one of those parts of San Francisco that makes me feel lucky I live here, and the fountains are easily one of my favorite spots in the whole city. Aside from being beautiful, impressive, peaceful, thought-provoking, and so many other things, they have an animism to them that makes them feel like visiting a person you know. It feels nice to see them and spend some time with them on each visit.

And in keeping with varying my route (I’d usually take Mission or Market), back via Howard.

I tried looking this up, but couldn’t find the answer. WHY are the lamp posts along Howard Street all painted fancy colors for a few blocks?? Let me know in the comments if you find the answer!
Where should I go tomorrow?
